Dear Crime Writer Colleagues,
Pandemic, schmandemic! We’ll be doing our functions digitally, changing the website and methods of operation, and broadening our reach. Details to follow.
Crime Writers Caravan (CWC) is a marketing endeavor designed to expand our readerships through personal and cyber appearances at libraries, selected bookstores, fairs, or anyone inclined to stage a literary event. We also seek to serve such venues and enhance their stature by providing interesting people talking about literary matters in interesting and entertaining ways.
The CWC concept is simple: Panels of crime writers talking about our craft, ourselves, and anything readers might wish to hear. Initially, we’ll seek engagements between D.C. and NYC. We will advertise in appropriate publications and websites. Neither panelists nor clients will be charged fees—the sole caveat being that panelists be allowed to sell books at the venue.
Initially, our roster of writers may be larger than necessary to allow for sufficient bench and accommodate schedule conflicts, travelling inconvenience, etc. However, as we develop, our plan is to create enough events to put everybody to work on a rotation basis, but it will take time.
If you are interested in being considered as a CWC panel member, please complete the form below. We are looking for published crime writers with panel experience and knowledge of craft. We are shooting for entertaining more than pedagogical; therefore, robust presentation skills get priority. We also want you to be comfortable talking about yourself, your writing journey and life influences which brought you to the literary arts. Readers like to know those things about us.
For now we are accumulating a roster of interested and interesting presenters. Action and further communication will ensue as we secure engagements through our purchase of ads, social media, and other marketing endeavors. So won’t you join us?
